The Christina M. Hixson Softball Park has been home to the University of Nevada since the 2007 season. Named after the benefactor whose donation allowed Nevada to purchase the land for the softball complex, the land for the facility was purchased from Bishop Manogue Catholic High School and is located adjacent to campus across Evans Avenue from Peccole Park. The 23-acre site is also home to the field events for Wolf Pack women's track and field.
Since it became its home in 2007, the Wolf Pack has a record of 111-63 at the friendly confines of Hixson Park through 2017. Nevada played its first game at Hixson Park on March 23, 2007 in a conference matchup against Fresno State. The official dedication ceremony took place on April 13 prior to Nevada's doubleheader with San Jose State. Before the Pack's game on the 13th, several businesses and donors were honored for their contributions to the Park.
The softball facility has 168 permanent chair backs behind home plate. The facility can hold up to 1,000 fans comfortably with room for lawn chairs on the burms behind the first and third base lines as well as in the outfield.
Nevada's side features two batting cages while the visitor's side has one. There are permanent dugout facilities with restrooms and parking for 168 cars adjacent to the facility. While the plumbing and wiring has been installed for a permanent press box, concession stand, ticket booth and restrooms, temporary amenities are currently in place.
The outfield is natural grass, while the infield is hilltopper, a very absorbent waterless soil compound, which will allow the field to be playable after rain. The field dimensions are 200 feet down the right and left field lines, 210 to right and left center and 220 feet to centerfield.
During the dedication ceremony, Norm Dianda from Q&D Construction threw out the first pitch and acted as the Wolf Pack's honorary coach.
Nevada honored a number of businesses and individuals who made the construction of the Christina M. Hixson Softball Park possible, including Q&D Construction, Jim Puzey, Basalite, GJH Rebar Services, Nelson Electric, Northeast Masonry, Odyssey Engineering, Sierra Nevada Construction and Sierra Restroom Solutions.
Not able to attend the dedication but also contributing to the project were A-1 Steel, American Redi-Mix, Anchor Door, Applied Mechanical, Carl's Imaging Works, CB Concrete, Cemex, Diversified Concrete Cutting, Harris Salinas Rebar, Henri Specialities, Holland Waterproofing, Martin Iron Works, Merit Electric, R Supply Company, Savage & Sons, Titan Construction Supply, Viper Steel Inc. and Western Nevada Supply.
